What would you do to save someone you love?
In Fire & Flood, Tella Holloway faced a dangerous trek through the jungle and across the desert, all to remain a Contender in the Brimstone Bleed for a chance at obtaining the Cure for her brother. She can’t quit–she has to win the race, save Cody, and then fight to make sure the race stops before it can claim any more lives. In the next legs of the race, across the ocean and over mountains, Tella will face frostbite, sharks, avalanche, and twisted new rules in the race.
But what if the danger is deeper than that? How do you know who to trust when everyone’s keeping secrets? What do you do when the person you’d relied on most suddenly isn’t there for support? How do you weigh one life against another?
The race is coming to an end, and Tella is running out of time, resources, and strength. At the start of the race there were one hundred twenty-two Contenders. As Tella and her remaining friends start the final part of the race, just forty-one are left–and only one can win.
So…which book did i like better? Its kind of hard to say since I really found equal faults with both of them. So I am going to say that I liked both of them the same. Again, there was inconsistency with the writing style which was more obvious and noticeable this time. Great job with the story and how it all played out. Right from the beginning to the ending, the book kept me thinking.
To talk about the actual book, we see the last two legs of the race in here. Tella has to finish them in order to save her brother. But ever since the jungle part , there have been too many people that she needs to protect. Its not about just her brother anymore. I LOVED that. There were so many new characters and the pandoras!! They are the cutest things ever. Anyways, with all these new contenders, we have more secrets. All of it tangled up and untangled in the most beautiful way. Props to Victoria Scott for fantastic picturisation.
This book was also a lot more heartbreaking than the first one. There wwere some scenes that got me all, “No!!!!!” ….. ya , it was bad. The ending kind of surprised me, kind of didn’t . By that, I mean that the ending is not clear. I did not get the closure i needed. It was satisfying enough, and unique, but at the same time, I want more and I am dying for a third book.
So, in conclusion, I would say that it was a fun, fast, funny and gripping duology and I really enjoyed it. Bye!!
