(Since I am doing this review a few days after reading the book – and I did not take any notes – I wont be discussing this book in depth 😦 )

Oh God, where do I start with this book?! I loved it, of course. If you are craving a fast-paced, romantic thriller, with crazy plot twists and amazing writing, look no further. There are not many quality YA thrillers out there. Paranormal romance? Yes. Fantasy? Yes. Even dystopian? Definitely. But thrillers are rare to find. And I am so glad I got to read this one.

Deception So Deadly is about a girl and her family who are constantly on the run. Hiding, lying, never getting to be themselves, never using their real names. Our main character, Tessa, is kind of the scaredy cat out of all the siblings. Always paranoid and afraid. Then one day, she meets this boy who changes everything . Ugh, so cheesy. Then one day, she meets this boy and suddenly, her secrets are hard to keep. This book had amazing romance. It was always evolving and changing, growing and becoming into this epic love story. I have to give it to Clara, she wrote one nice love story.

This book also has some supernatural elements in it, which made it SO MUCH BETTER. I was worrying it was just going to be a rather depressing thriller, but I was wrong. It added that little something to the story. And someone please tell me if they were reminded of The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer while reading this book, cuz I definitely was!

The story and the plot twists were predictable…but to some extent. It really threw me back at times. Like geez…Other than that, it was a little funny at times, there was action and suspense, and it was just a lot of fun. The characters were amazing, though some of them felt flat, the others were generously detailed.

Overall, a fantastic read and HIGHLY recommended! 🙂

About the Author:

Clara Kensie, author of dark fiction for young adults

...don’t forget to breathe...

Clara Kensie grew up near Chicago, reading every book she could find and using her diary to write stories about a girl with psychic powers who solved mysteries. She purposely did not hide her diary, hoping someone would read it and assume she was writing about herself. Since then, she’s swapped her diary for a computer and admits her characters are fictional, but otherwise she hasn’t changed one bit.

Today Clara is the author of dark fiction for young adults. Her debut, the super-romantic thriller RUN TO YOU (First Sight, Second Glance Third Charm), is a 2015 RITA double finalist in two categories: best Young Adult Romance and Best First Book.

Clara’s favorite foods are guacamole and cookie dough. But not together. That would be gross.
