Title: Making It
Author: Amanda Gibbs
Genre: Contemporary Romance, New Adult Romance, Poetry
My rating: 90%, 4.32/5
Making It, Amanda Gibbs’ debut short story, invites readers into the most intimate and personal moments of a couple’s life spanning throughout decades. The story is told through prose, poetry, dialogue, lists, and focused vignettes, all with Amanda’s signature concrete voice. Each entry of Making It represents a day in a year of the couple’s relationship, spanning from first meeting to 30th anniversary.
Oh my God! I adored this story! Finished it within an hour and I almost wanted to cry! This story is set in a very unique yet fitting format. Its told in paragraphs and each para is like a different chapter with a tagline in the end which gives the “chapter” a sweet impact. Loved it.
This short story is about a couple, names are unknown. How they meet, and a few, before-the-relationship instances, and after that, how they grow old and still cherish their love. Sigh… Anyway, this book was told in a very different way. There was little-to-no-drama, funny moments and moments that really touch your heart, if you are a softie.
I fell in love with the book, writing, the style , the characters.
There is really not much to say OR spoil. I mean, it is a cute, little story with a perfect beginning and end. I would say, when you absolutely need a good romantic novel but don’t actually want to read all those pages waiting for the couple to get together and suffer through all that angst and torture, go for this book. It will be read in less than an hour and gives you a happy warm feeling about love and the idea of it.
Happy reading!!! 🙂 🙂 🙂 ❤ ❤ ❤
