Kyrie Carter can’t believe her luck when she wins a spot on a paranormal investigation with celebrity ghost hunter Drac Petery and his heartthrob brother Gabe. As the investigation begins, her main obstacles are her unsupportive teammates and her lack of ghost hunting experience. Her biggest critic is the ruggedly handsome but enigmatic Spook Steele, who takes an instant and intense dislike to the newbie and seems determined to see her fail. However, Kyr soon realizes that her flesh-and-blood rivals are the least of her worries. The investigation takes a dark turn when the team finds evidence of a decades-old murder mystery, and Kyr becomes the victim of the resident spirit’s violent attacks. The discovery of a family connection to the Berkeleys explains the spirit’s malevolence. Will Kyr be able to help the Peterys unravel the mystery and put the Berkeley mansion spirits to rest, or will she become another victim of the house’s tragic history? And will she be able to sort out her romantic feelings for the off-limits Gabe and her growing but unwelcome attraction to Spook Steele?
Okay, the moment I read the synopsis, I had to read this book. Let me tell you, I LOVE horror movies, TV shows, ghost stories, etc. but not books. Its just something about ghost books that puts me off. Paranormal? I can read that. But not ghost books per say. But this novel had the most interesting opening plot. I am sure you would be interested too. Halloween is gone but…just read it.
So this is about a young woman who works at this library and is obsessed with ghost stuff. Her favorite show is Project Bo-seekers. Which is kind of like Ghost Hunters except the guys in Bo-seekers are supa hot. Then, through a radio essay writing contest, she gets to do a ghost hunting investigation thingie with aforementioned supa hot guys. This would be her first time doing this and she is excited but then things get a little crazy…
But seriously, radio essay writing contest?! That was a little bizzare and very much hilarious.
Now to get to real reviewing, this book told me a lot about ghost hunting and how to go about it. What things will you need, blah blah blah. Because this ain’t a camping trip. The atmosphere was pretty lighthearted at parts, but it still got spooky when needed. The romance is kind of a love triangle, in a weird way. I don’t know. Will have to read the next book for that.
The story arc was a little predictable and the ending could have done with a little more of a plot twist, but it was still satisfying. I personally did not connect much with the protagonist, but I didn’t expect to anyway. So yes, not exactly a re read but if you want something refreshing and not that spooky, go for this one. But do not expect to be wow-ed
All in all, a nice, cozy read and very much anticipating the next book. I should probably get on that one.
I hope you liked the review and let me know what is the creepiest thing that happened to you! Bye!!!!
