Welcome to Dominion City.

After the great Plague descended, the world population was decimated…and their genetics damaged beyond repair.

The Lasters wait hopelessly for their genes to self-destruct. The Splicers pay for expensive treatments that might prolong their life. The plague-resistant True Borns are as mysterious as they are feared…

And then there’s Lucy Fox and her identical twin sister, Margot. After endless tests, no one wants to reveal what they are.

When Margot disappears, a desperate Lucy has no choice but to put her faith in the True Borns, led by the charismatic Nolan Storm and the beautiful but deadly Jared Price. As Lucy and the True Borns set out to rescue her sister, they stumble upon a vast conspiracy stretching from Dominion’s street preachers to shady Russian tycoons. But why target the Fox sisters?

As they say in Dominion, it’s in the blood.

Right off the bat, the first few things I want to say is that this book is so well written.  The words and sentences are captivating. I am a sucker for beautiful figures of speech and this was full of it. A+ for that. You instantly fall into the story. Its a weird mixture of sci-fi, dystopian and contemporary with a dash of fantasy. Really refreshing. Definitely a book-mourning book.

So the story goes that, in this world, the plague has descended all over the place. But this time, its not because of rats. The situation is much uglier, and we are focused towards two girls, twins, who belong to the elite part of the society but soon find out about a bigger, darker secret about the disease that all the elders everyone is keeping. This book has quite a few classic tropes such as : twin-sister love connection thingy, rich fancy people having disgusting obsessions, underground secret rebel stuff going on, etc.

The situation is so different than what we usually see in dystopian novels. There is action and fighting going on in the streets. Its a really messed up world, and its not exactly post apocalyptic. People are classified based on what  level of disease they have, are they gonna live, and they gonna die, are they near their deaths….and its all revealed at the ‘Reveal’. Shocker.

The disease pretty much morphs you into a scary-looking thing. Our two main girls have to go through a lot to get some answers. Well, the book is from the point of view of only one twin. It would been cool to see both their perspectives though. The romance is really sweet and one of those burning, passionate ones. Totally not insta-love. Insta-attraction? Sure.

The books leaves you off with a cliffhanger and I am definitely going to be waiting for the next one! You will enjoy this book if you need something action-y and futuristic, with a little bit of high-school drama and if you want to get over a book hangover. You’ll thank me later… 😉

I guess thats all I have to say! Thank you Entangled for another amazing book and looking forward to more!  🙂
